JOHN LIMNEOS It is with deep sadness that after a long battle with cancer the family announces the peaceful passing of John Limneos on October 28, 2007, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 94 years. John was born in Mitilini, Greece, October 14, 1913, and immigrated to Canada in 1952 where he later married Vasiliki and had three children. John was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Helen; his brothers, Peter and George; and sisters, Soula, Pelagia, Evoyn and Ellie. John will be lovingly remembered by his children, Athena (Leonard), Nick (Nancy) and Paul; grandchildren, Katerina, Johnny, Sean, Ryan, Nicole, Jeffrey, John Patrick, Julia and Jessica, that were all very close to his heart. At the age of 17, Dad enlisted in the army and later had served in the Second World War. After the war Dad had opened a beauty salon with his brothers. In Canada Dad opened and operated three barbershops at various times and locations and was also involved in the rental housing business. Dad worked very hard to provide for his devoted wife and children. To understand Dad's devotion to his family, he would walk several miles to and from work every day. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his wife. Dad also enjoyed helping his sons with their restaurants. The family wishes to thank all the evening home care staff along with St. Boniface Palliative staff for the care of our father and grampa. Funeral service and prayers will be held at 2255 Grant Avenue, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, on Monday, November 5, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Research Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. 668-3151.
