BERNICE LYNNE POTOSKI It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and godmother Bernice Potoski (Scott). Mom went into eternal rest on October 31, 2007 three days after her 64th birthday. Mom was born in Winnipeg on October 28, 1943. Mom was predeceased by her mother Margaret Gibualt (Collins) and father Hugh Sillers. Mom leaves to mourn her husband of 18 years Micheal Potoski; four children, Gator (Gail), Corinna (Kevin) Charlene (Doyle), and Jim. Six grandchildren, Trinity, K.C., Jamie, Tawny, Riley, Devin. Five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Shadon, Sierra, Tallia, and Hailey. Brothers and sisters; Brian, Gloria, Russell, Beverly, Denise, Olivia, John. Mom was a pillar of her community working for the province of Manitoba for over 27 years, retiring at the age of 57 years. Mom was very proud to be Metis and served on numerous boards throughout the years. Mom was a founding member of the Riverton Friendship Center and also was a board member for Metis Child and Family Services as well as Manitoba Metis Federation. Mom grew up in Pine Dock, MB and lived the majority of her life in the Interlake town of Riverton, MB. Mom had a heart of gold and touched the lives of all who knew her. Mom loved to have family around her and her home was always open to anyone. Mom was a foster mom to over 40 teenagers and many of them stilled called her mom. One in particular, Cheryl who was there for mom until the end. Due to health reasons, mom moved to Winnipeg in 2006 where she started dialysis in October of 2006. Mom also left behind some very special nieces, nephews as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Mom will always be remembered as the gem of the Interlake. A celebration of her life will be held with prayers on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in Riverton, MB at the Riverton Fellowship Circle. Funeral service will be at the Manitoba Metis Federation Building, 150 Henry, Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Neil VonGunten officiating. At mom's request, cremation will take place with a private family burial at a later date. We miss you mom, you will always be in our hearts.
