Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT RITCHIE MUIRIE Peacefully, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Robert Muirie, the beloved husband of Paulette, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, November, 3, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Bob was born in Tranent, Scotland to the late John and Isabelle Muirie. He immigrated to Canada in 1966 and enjoyed a 27 year career with Dominion Bridge, working as a welder. He retired in 1993. Following their marriage in 1970, Bob and Paulette lived happily in Winnipeg for the past 37 years. Bob had many passions in life. He loved to watch his favourite sports on TV and was known to make a wager or two. He enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards and dine out. In his later years, he demonstrated his talent as an artist and sketched many beautiful pictures which he sent to family and friends. Bob will be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humour and his love of all the children in his life. Surviving is his sister Jean (Ted) Hannay of Australia; nephew John; niece Jennifer (Craig) and their children, Thomas and Lachlan; niece Jane (Ken) and their children Elizabeth and Katherine. Bob will be deeply missed by Paulette and his many loving relatives and friends in Canada and Scotland. Special thanks to Home Care, the staff on GD5 at Health Sciences Centre; and especially our friends Lorne and Sharilyn Veinot and Len and Sandra Schultz. There will be a Memorial Service and reception at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Michaud officiating. I was 16 when Robert immigrated to Canada, but remember him with a head of jet black hair, he was always teasing me, a lovely gentle man. - Posted by: Anne Muirie (Cousin) on: Mar 24, 2023
