Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELLIE PELLETIER It is with heavy hearts, we the children of Nellie Pelletier, announce the sudden passing of our dear Mother. In the early hours of November 1, 2007, it was the Creator's plan to reunite our Mother with her other children and relatives. Nellie was born on January 14, 1923 at Lake Manitoba First Nation. She was the daughter of the late Caroline Swan, our grandmother. Our Mother leaves to mourn her passing her husband Arthur Pelletier; her children, Donna (Lawrence), Harvey (Bev), Norman (Stella), Russell (Leo), Millie (Randy), Richard (Cheryl); her two boys, Rodney (Annette) and Lloyd-buff who she considered as her own sons. Also left to mourn are her step-children, Elsie (Helgie), Violet, Herman, Lloyd (Kim); her 42 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren. Our dear Mother was predeceased by her two children Doris on January 24, 2002 and Eddy on January 20, 1997; her son-in-laws Jordy on December 25, 2003 and John Mousseau on July 9, 1993; her daughter-in-law Freda Mousseau on August 10, 1985; her only sister Sophie; her two brothers, Norman and Harvey; her two step-sons Billy and Dwight; her grandchildren, Sherry, Elizabeth, Charlene, Brenden, Kaitlyn, Skylar, baby girl and Russell Jr. We would like to share some of the things our Mother enjoyed spending time doing. She loved to sew. People would drop by and request that their clothes needed mending. Our Mother would be so gentle and take her sweet time to finish her task. She also spent countless hours knitting and using her sewing machine. Our Mother had a way of baking bannock. Again, people would request or make orders for her to bake bannock as it was the best and very tasty. She enjoyed cooking traditional and contemporary dishes. During the summer, she would plant some of her own vegetables and would make jam from the berries she picked herself. She took pride and pleasure to accomplish these tasks. Our dear Mother also had the opportunity to have numerous dogs as her pets. These pets were like her children and she loved them very much. She even cooked for them and they kept her company. When she went somewhere she would get sitters or she would sometimes just take them with her. Our Mother would call on her friends from the community, especially the late Lola Chippeway. They would talk on the phone for long periods of time. They would make plans on how to hitch a ride to their favourite bingo places. They would laugh at each other and ask each other how they got there. They told each other how to be careful in case they got kidnapped. She would often call Malvina Spence in Ashern, MB to chat and share the events of the week or days gone by. Our Mother treasured the company of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they had the time to drop by for a visit. She cherished the company of her numerous relatives and friends when they came to socialize with her. Our Mother always encouraged her children to work hard and be role models for others. She wanted us to have the good things in life, which she said she did not have the opportunity to enjoy. Today marks the beginning of a new journey without our Mother, but with the guidance of our Creator, family and friends, we will have the strength to continue our own journeys. At this time we would all like to say Gichi-Miigwetch to all the people of Lake Manitoba First Nation for their kind thoughts and words of wisdom. We also say Miigwetch to the Chief and Council of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Wake services will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Robin Lavallee's residence at Lake Manitoba First Nation. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Lake Manitoba Band Hall. Interment to follow at the Lake Manitoba First Nation Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren; Lloyd Maytwayashing, Ricky Lee Maytwayashing, Nelson Mousseau, Jordan Lavallee, Joseph Paul and Howard Missiabit. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD. Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
