LYLE GEORGE INKSTER After a lengthy battle with cancer, Dad went to be with the Lord peacefully at home, with his children at his side on November 3, 2007. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his son Allan and his wife Glynis, daughter, Lise and her husband Rick and his daughter Arlie. Dad also leaves fond memories with his 11 grandchildren Kristy, Ashley, Blair, Tylor, Scott, Jessica, Adam, Brooke, Daniel, Andrew and Cloey and two great-grandchildren Cody and Sequoia. Brothers Ronald and Ralph, sister Helen Ward and their families, as well as his half brothers and sisters. Dad was predeceased by his infant brother Laurence, wife Lois, mother Loretta, father Don, stepfather George, brothers Earl and Murray, son Mike and granddaughter Kristyn. Dad was born at home on September 19, 1937 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He lived the majority of his life in Selkirk working at Amsco for 43 years until his retirement in 1999. Dad filled his days with family, raising and racing pigeons, woodworking and gardening. Following his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering his time at the local soup kitchen. Dad had a big heart and was able to embrace his family and all of our children in spite of biological ties. He was known for his friendly charisma that cultivated many friends in his life. He enjoyed visits from everyone and took great comfort in people dropping in during his time of illness. Dad was regarded by many as someone that was eager to help a person in need and would willingly give the shirt off his back. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A Celebration of Dad's life will take place on Thursday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Christ Church Anglican with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Lindenschmidt and the home care staff for caring for Dad. Special thank you to Susan and Jennifer from home care for always going above and beyond to ensure Dad was treated with compassion and dignity. He was very fond of you both. We the children would also like to thank our special family members that came to be with Dad during his illness and support us in our efforts to care for him at home. Auntie Helen, Laurie and Gary, Allan and Kerry. Your presence was a comfort to Dad and a great help to us, your kindness will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
