Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLA (VI) FLORENCE LAKATOS (nee COWLING) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother Viola Florence peacefully at home on November 6, 2007 at the age of 86. She is survived by her son Brian (Karen), daughter Barbara (Michael) and grandchildren Cheryl, Katherine, Tim, Brett and Scott. She was predeceased by her husband Eddie in 1985, parents Daniel and Louie, sister Grace and brother William. She is survived by her sisters Pauline Farquhar, Joy Lelond and Marie Arnold, sisters-in-law Shirley Lakatos and Pat Bagamery, special friend of the family Gabriel Berkis and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born and raised in Crandall in 1921 and moved to the city where she met her husband Eddie. After they were married, they moved to East Kildonan where they raised their family. Mom was a devoted mother and grandmother who always looked forward to family gatherings. She devoted her life to her family. Mom's greatest joy was being able to spend time with her family and especially the apples of her eye, her five grandchildren. She took great pleasure in attending hockey games, band concerts, family vacations and graduations. She enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends, trips to the cottage, bowling and playing cards. She always had a friendly smile and a bag of treats; cookies, waffles and pancakes were among her specialties. Viola will be remembered for her kindness, unselfishness, generosity and devotion to her family and friends. A celebration of Viola's life will be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Rd. with interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
