JOAN PATRICIA NASH (nee SMITH) March 17, 1926 - November 7, 2007 Joan Nash passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Concordia Hospital. Joan was born on St. Patricks Day in Brighton, Sussex, England. The youngest of four daughters to Edgar and Charlotte. She met Jim at Sherry's in England, she married Jim and moved to Gimli, Canada as a war bride, the greatest adventure of her life. During the Second World War, Joan worked at a Munitions Plant as a gauge inspector. She always respected and honoured Remembrance Day each year. Mom was a loving, gentle, dedicated mother and wife. She was a romantic and was always full of fun and saw the lighter side of life. Mom was the founder and president of the Muck-about club as a girl. She made all the family holidays extra special, singing along to her favourite records. Mom enjoyed hosting our family events and we will carry these traditions for years to come. Mom was a long time member of St. Saviours Anglican Church and a resident of East Kildonan for over 50 years. Joan was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1971, as well as her parents, sister Bell (Reg), son-in-law Howard and granddaughter Sari. She is survived by her children, Jim, Ron (Ardis), Pat, Dave (Shirley) and Sue (Wayne), grandchildren, Christopher, Graeme, Jason, Ryan, Michael (Krista), Kelly, Karly, Andrew, Jordan, Paul and Jennifer as well as her sisters, Sue (Wes) and Kay (Tom), sisters-in-law, Winnie and Bennie, and many nieces and nephews in England, Canada and the United States. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Doctors and nursing staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with burial and reception to follow.
