DOROTHY MARGARET MARY GREENLEY (nee FORNWALD) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy Greenley on November 6, 2007. She passed away at home after a short battle with Cancer, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79 years. Dorothy was born May 27, 1928 in Lampman, Saskatchewan, the eighth child of Joseph and Mary (Guittard) Fornwald. Mom's parents died when she was a teenager and this must have been a very difficult time for her. Dorothy met her love Merton Greenley and they married March 13, 1947. They raised a family of six children. They lived in Winnipeg where mom worked at Canada Safeway and then became a Manager at Mac's Convenience Store. Shortly after this Dad and Mom retired and traveled and enjoyed many destinations in Canada and the USA. Mom was a wonderful cook and with a family of eight to feed mom could be very creative. She also loved to do crafts, play cards, do Free Press puzzles and watch her Blue Jays ball games. Mom was a fighter and an inspiration to anyone who knew her. But more than anything our mom was dedicated and devoted to her family. We were her focus and she never let us down. What a wonderful lasting example to us all. Dorothy's husband of 60 years predeceased her September 5, 2007. She was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Edward and Nelson and four sisters, Josephine Morrison, Freda McIvor, Carol Fryer and Nora Douglas. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Louise (John) Stevenson, Darlene (Shaun) Trainer, Roberta (John) Robillard, Pat (Bob) Schmidt, and sons, Murray (Brenda) Greenley and Jim (Terry) Greenley, 13 grand-children and four great-grandchildren; and her sister Mary Ducharme. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and to everyone who participated in mom's care. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road with interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 You were always there when we needed you No task to great or small with a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did them all Thanks for the years you gave us and for the precious times we shared, with aching hearts we whisper low God Bless you Mother, we'll miss you so.
