Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM RYCZAK Peacefully, on Monday, November 5, 2007, at the age of 83, Bill (Wasyl) Ryczak passed away at home. He was born in the Lviv oblast of western Ukraine on July 26, 1924, the second eldest of four children. He was predeceased by his parents, Petro and Rosalina and a older brother, Ivan. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mary, his son, Michael (Heather), his two princess granddaughters, Christine and Catherine. He is survived in the Ukraine by two younger siblings, Fedunia and Mykola and their families. He will also be sadly missed by many other family members and friends. As a child and youth, Bill endured the ordeals of poverty, hunger, foreign occupation, war and separation from family which profoundly affected his whole outlook on life. Following the war, he worked as a coal miner in Belgium and then began his journey towards a better life in Canada. After marrying Mary in 1956, he was employed for 30 years as a reliable machinist for Macmillan Bathurst, retiring in 1986. Bill always showered his family with unconditional love and financial support. Dad was a faithful Christian, and proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He was active at St. Joseph's church for 42 years as a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood, the parish choir, the Men's Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was well-known at Garden City mall where he spent many hours selling tickets for the Knights and made many new friends who will miss him dearly. He supported many Ukrainian organizations and was a member of Prosvita Seniors' club and Dumka choir. Parastas and final viewing will be held on Friday November 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday November 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church.
