EVELYN RUTH LOWERY (nee HORTON) On November 7, 2007, Evelyn Ruth Lowery passed away peacefully at the age of 77 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Ruth was born in Winnipeg on February 5, 1930 to Reginald and Evelyn Horton. She married Hugh Arthur Lowery in 1948 and they remained together for 27 years. Ruth lived all of her life in Winnipeg but traveled to many destinations such as Japan, Germany, England, Ireland, France, and extensively throughout the United States. She devoted much of her life to raising her eight children. In later years she enjoyed her winter home in Texas with Marlow, making many friends who too shall miss her. Ruth was the beloved mother of eight children, grandmother of 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who are listed here with: Daughters Marian and her husband Bruce Dolsen, Vancouver, BC, Del and her husband John Lion, Winnipeg, MB, Lynn and her husband Dave Langdon, Winnipeg, MB, Katherine Lowery, Winnipeg, MB, Sons Glenn and his wife Joanne, Beausejour, MB, Rob Lowery, Blue Sky, AB, David and his wife Cheryl, Winnipeg, MB, Chris Lowery, Kimberly, BC, Grandchildren Shannon Whitehead and her husband Jason, Sara Decker and her husband Troy, Erica Dolsen, Annie Langdon, Andrew Dolsen, Aidan Langdon, Joel Duhaime, Curtis Lowery, Joseph Lowery, Jared Lowery, Meghan Lowery, Jessica Lowery, John Paul Lion, (two grandchildren predeceased) and great-grandchildren Ava and Finn. Ruth's brother, Robert Horton and his wife Sandy, from Waterloo, ON and her sister, Marian McEwen and her husband Bob, from Los Angles, CA, also survive their much loved sister. They as well as many others remember how she loved to dance and how her piano played a big part at family gatherings. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Bethania Personal Care Home for their warm and devoted care. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private interment will be held at a later date.
