M. VAILA KUPPERS (BARNES) Peacefully on November 5, 2007, Vaila passed away at Victoria Hospital. Vaila was predeceased by her husband Maurice, her daughter Cheryl (Reynolds), her mother Mary, father Roy, sisters Lorraine (Davis), Dorraine (Yule), and Winnifred (Dobson). She is survived by her son Bruce, sisters Hazel (Mountney) of Moosomin, SK, Clarissa (Hilts) of Wolseley, SK, brother Verne (Barnes) of Medicine Hat, AB, brother-in-law Ivor (Kuppers) of Vancouver, BC, sisters-in-law Freda (Seales) of Winnipeg, MB, Del (Kuppers) of Vancouver, BC, Marion (Kuppers) of Vancouver, BC, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends who will miss her dearly. Vaila was born in Moosomin, SK on August 10, 1911. She completed her high school and took business training. She worked for a number of private businesses and the Province of Saskatchewan in Regina. It is here that she met and married her husband Maurice in 1941. They were then posted to the west coast for the duration of the war. They came to Winnipeg after the war where they established their home and family, Mom being a full time Mother. Vaila was an active member of the community enjoying the friendship of many neighbours, church members, and community club members. She and her family vacationed together for many years seeing many of the provinces personally. After the passing of her husband in 1992 she still stayed active in senior community activities sharing good times with many friends, especially from the Glenwood Community Centre. She cherished her family and friends. All were very dear to her. She also had a love for animals leaving behind her cat Gypsy into the care of her son. Vaila supported many charities in her later years. A special thanks goes to her personal physician Dr. B. Choptiany and all the staff on the fifth floor of the Victoria Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Ph. 885-9715
