JOHN GORDON HALLETT (1915 - 2007) Lake Francis John was predeceased by his parents Jack and Ellen Hallett, an infant sister Thelma, sisters, Evelyn Stone, Lyle Procter, Bertha Hogg, and brother Jim Hallett. John is survived by sisters, Helen Taylor, Ida (Robbie Oliver); many nieces and nephews, friends; great neighbours whom he truly appreciated. He resided on the farm all of his life except for the last two and one half years of which two were spent at the Assisted Living Centre in St. Laurent, a few months in Stonewall Hospital and four days at Tudor House in Selkirk. He received quality care at all three places. John asked for no service. Cremation has taken place. EVERYONE'S UNCLE JOHN You were everyone's uncle John!! You were a kind, humble, generous, hospitable, gentle man. Your sense of humour was playfully clever. You set a wonderful example of how life should be lived, and of what really mattered. Hunting was your passion and the numerous hunting tales will become legendary. There was nothing like a cup of the blackest, hottest tea, or a glass of fine brandy in the comfort of your humble home while sitting around the crackling wood stove. Your sacrifices in life were many. If there were a model uncle it would be you. Of us there was nothing you expected. You had a great influence on our lives. You taught us to respect nature. How you loved the purple lady slippers. When wondering something we would always consult an expert - Uncle John! We will still silently ask. Maybe you will hear us as your spirit soars over the family marsh while you are eying up the deer, geese, and ducks or maybe a partridge with that twinkle in your eye. You were everyone's Uncle John, but to some of us your were MY UNCLE JOHN. Thanks to all who continued to visit him after he left his own home and to all his caregivers. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
