NOREEN E. SEMENKO (nee ACTON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Noreen Semenko on November 7, 2007. She passed away at Concordia Hospital with her family at her side. Noreen was born April 25, 1936 in Winnipeg, to Harold and Amelia Acton. She met her husband John Semenko at a community dance in Beausejour and they were married a year later on September 22, 1956 and recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Noreen and John lived in East St. Paul for 47 years where they raised their family of four boys. They were very active in the community and spent many hours at the Community Club, especially at their sons' outdoor hockey games and other sports. Noreen, in addition to raising a family, worked part-time for several companies and retired from Imperial Oil after 11 years. John and Noreen always loved to travel; from camping in the Whiteshell with their young family, to traveling to Europe and tropical locations, to wintering in Florida, Arizona and eventually Texas. Everywhere they travelled they met many interesting people and were fortunate to build many lasting friendships. Mom loved to be active, whether it was working on various crafts, socializing at golf tournaments or line dancing with her friends at her winter home. Family and friends were very important to Mom. It gave her great joy to entertain in her home and she always looked forward to her dinner party group, who have been together for 20 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents and brother Wayne Acton. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband John, sons, David, Brian, Brad (Brenda), and Mark, grandchildren, Jason (Roberta), Tasha, Kelly, Michelle, Hannah, Breanne, Kristen and Jenna, and one great-grandchild, Mackenzie. She will also be missed by her brother Brian Acton (Wilma) and all of her nieces, nephews and close friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank her many visitors and those who sent cards of support. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
