ELIZABETH (BETTY) HORWOOD (nee THOMAS) September 7, 1930 - November 10, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Betty, beloved wife of Bob. She also leaves to cherish her memory her children Rob (Sheila), Richard and Nancy (Wayne) Tardiff, her grandchildren Cheryl, Ken, Crystal, Christina and Courtney, and her great-grandchildren Abigail, Alexandria and Auron. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Johan Ross (Winnipeg), Diana Ducharme (B.C.) and sister-in-law Dorothy Murphy (Texas), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Canada, USA, United Kingdom and Italy. She will be fondly remembered by her dear friend Molly Tyrer of almost 45 years. Betty lived all her life in Winnipeg and first met Bob when she was 13. They were married on June 23, 1951, at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church. They lived in Charleswood for many years, before moving to St. Vital and later to Southdale. Betty was employed for many years at Eaton's Downtown and Polo Park. She enjoyed curling, baking (for which she won numerous awards), handicrafts and travelling throughout Canada, USA and Europe. She recently re-discovered her love of painting, sharing her talent with family and friends. She spent many enjoyable summers at Hillside Beach and winters in Victoria. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 16 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Victoria Hospital ICU staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Luther Home, 1081 Andrews St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 2G9, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
