ETHEL PEARL HOLMES Peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Selkirk District General Hospital, mom passed away at the age of 80 years. Ethel was born in Hazelridge, Manitoba, on August 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace Crossman. Mom will be greatly missed by her children Gordon (Audrey), Barbra (Brian Vernie), Dennis (Diane), Gwen (Rick Ross), Dale (Sharon) and 25 grand and great-grandchildren; also by her sister Evelyn (Merv) Baxter of Vancouver; brother Ken Crossman of Beausejour; and two very special nieces Kim (Ron Law) and Sharon Manchelanko. Mom was predeceased by Dad (Elmer) in March 1992, after 49 years of marriage; her siblings Gerald, Billy, Jackie and sister Ilene. Mom Worked at Middle Church Home and Tudor House dedicating her career to geriatric care, which she loved. Moms greatest Joys were having family gatherings at her home in Selkirk, and these past years at the cottage where she walked the beaches of Hillside picking berries, watched the sunsets and always had room for family and friends; sitting by the fire, reminiscing family camping trips, including mom and dads many road trips to the mountains. Mom's greatest peeve was always counting the shoes. She always knew her kids were home by counting each and every single pair. Mom wouldn't sleep at night until she knew that we were all home. At Mom's request a private family service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Manitoba. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those wishing may donate to the Palliative Care Unit of the Selkirk District General Hospital. May you rest in peace MOM, We Love you.
