Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH CAVEL HAYWARD (nee MARLATT) June 11, 1918 - November 13, 2007 On November 13, 2007, at the age of 89 our dear Mother passed away while residing in West Park Manor. Edith is survived by her daughters Elaine Wylie (Pat), Nancy Konchuk, Gerry Hayward, Debbie Foster (Blaire); one son Reg Hayward and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1995; her parents Leonard and Naomi; sisters Ollie, Laurel, Naomi, Sarah, Mary, Lillian, Marge; brothers Alex and Leonard. Edith was born in Rathwell, MB and moved to Treherne in her teens where she met and married her husband Gordon Hayward in 1936. The family moved to Oakville, MB after the Second World War and after a few years moved to Regina. They returned to Winnipeg in 1957. Edith was a very caring person and always eager to help others. She loved volunteering at the Deaf Centre and the Salvation Army. Edith was a great mother, a terrific cook, and loved her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor for the wonderful care and compassion given our mother during her 11 year stay. The staff treated her as if she was part of their own family. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edith to West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 1X2. God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So he put his arms around you And whispered, COME TO ME. With tearful eyes we watched you suffer And saw your strong attempts to live Although we love you dearly We could not make you stay A golden heart stopped beating A heart filled with love and kindness Although our hearts are broken You are in Heaven now God is truly merciful We love you Mom GOODBYE Until we meet again.
