VIVIANE JOSETTE MAUD DUTTON (nee MERGNY) We regret to announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother on November 9, 2007. Viviane was predeceased by her brother Captain Gilbert Mergny, a pilot with Nordair in Montreal in 1966, parents Martha and Louis Mergny in 1968 and 1983, and her grandmother Marguerite Marie Desauw in 1974. Viviane grew up in Winnipeg on Langside St. and in Belgium. She graduated from Gordon Bell High School after which she served in the R.C.A.F. Woman's Division from 1943 to 1946. Posted overseas in London, Viviane was the first WD to set foot in continental Europe, when she obtained leave to visit her grandparents in Belgium in 1945. Viv was very active in the local WD group until very recently, and was the driving force behind the 50th and 65th WD reunions held in Winnipeg in 1991 and 2005. Viviane worked at the University of Manitoba (Departments of English and Continuing Education) from 1966 to 1983. She loved music and gave back by serving as a volunteer with the Manitoba Opera Guild for several years, including a term as President. Viviane was an outgoing person who enjoyed a good laugh right to the end. She was devoted to her family and friends (such as the Arundel road Brownie Pack ) and took pains to spoil her grandchildren even from afar. Viv will be dearly missed by her children; Gilbert of Winnipeg, Marguerite Boychuk (Carl) of Calgary, and Michael (Roshni) of Milton, Ontario. Nana will also be remembered with fondness by grandchildren Nicholas and Heather Boychuk and Drew and Kiran Dutton. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 1531 Pembina Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations to Jocelyn House or a charity of your preference would be warmly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM FAMILY OWNED OPERATED 1531 Pembina Hwy 284-7500
