Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySADIE CHEGUIS (nee ZORNIAK) August 4, 1932- November 13, 2007 It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sadie Cheguis on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Holy Family Nursing Home. Sadie was born in Hamrlik on August 4, 1932 and was raised and educated near Poplarfield, Manitoba. Sadie moved to Winnipeg when she was 19 years old and worked at the St. Boniface Hospital. Later her creative talents were well utilized as a supervisor of the toy department at F.W. Woolworths company. She married Bill (William) Cheguis on October 5, 1957. Shortly after getting married, Sadie and Bill created two successful businesses that still continue today. Together they shared the joys and the tears of raising a family they were very proud of. They instilled their traditions and passed down their cultural values to their children as well as to their grandchildren. Both Sadie and Bill were devoted parishioners of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Sadie was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League where she developed many lasting friendships, and felt honoured to have held the position of president. Sadie will be remembered for her warm heart, generous nature, and hospitality. Her home was always open to family and friends with a fresh pot of coffee and a tasty meal always on hand. During the holidays, Sadie took great pride in bringing everyone together to share warmth, love and laughter, creating many wonderful memories. Sadie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Noella and husband Alex Pylypowich, Noel and wife Judy Cheguis, Yolanda and husband Tom Graham, Michelle and husband Ken Taplin. She was also a proud grandmother of Sheana and Ashley Pylypowich, Bernadine and Scott Cheguis, Colton Graham and Meagan Newton (Taplin). She is also survived by sisters, Pearl Moroz, Stella Podvin, Nellie Sumka and Betty Zorniak; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill Cheguis (1993); parents John and Irene Zorniak; siblings, Anne, John, Mary, Kay, Olga, Helen, Mike, Harry, Sophie; and infant granddaughter Carmella Graham. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16 also at the Church with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Spack, Bruce Chegus, Thomas Miko, David Miko, Terrace Miko and Yvon Lachiver. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Holy Family Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends wish, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Sadie will remain in our memory as a truly extraordinary woman. We are grateful to have had such a generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend forever in our thoughts and always in our hearts. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193

I remember many good times in my youth when the Cheguis, Zorniak and Leochko families got together. Sadie and Bill were real gems. My deepest sympathies to all the family. Love, Alma (Peter and Kay Leochko's daughter) - Posted by: Alma McDonald (Family) on: Nov 15, 2007
