ANNA MARIA OOSTERVEEN (ZONNEVELD) Peacefully with her family at her side, Anna passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 78. Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband John (April 2000); her parents, Kees and Maria; father and mother-in-law Nico and Dina Oosterveen; and siblings, Lou, Dora, Theo, Jan and Peter. Anna will be lovingly remembered and very sadly missed by her children, Nick (Lynn), Mary-Ann, Dinah (Marten), John (Brenda), Neil (Victoria) and daughter-in-law Sylvia; grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Sean, Alex, Lucas, Scott, Hanna and Joshua. She also leaves her sisters and brothers, Tini (Dick) Sierhuis, Gertie (Eric) VanSchie, Laurence (Johanna), Jack (Mary Jane), Gerry (Olive), Casey (Janice), Suzanne, and Bill (Laurie) Zonneveld; her in-laws, Nico (Greetje) and Ton (Wil) Oosterveen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Anna was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 1951 she married her husband John and in 1952 they immigrated to Canada with their son Nick. Being a mother was her calling. Those she mothered know her warmth in special moments of connection. She loved easily and was easy to love. After raising her family, Mom started working at the University of Manitoba Food Services but after many years her health did not allow her to continue. With her ability to smile through adversity, Mom lived in a world full of possibilities. Forever the hostess she created an atmosphere of fun and connection wherever she was, even a hospital room. Mom never stopped learning and growing, and always held firm to her strong foundation of faith. She touched many people with her warmth and wisdom and will be missed by us all. I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before too long And cherish those special moments to which I belong Prayers will be said on Friday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m., also in the Holy Rosary Church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided by staff of Health Sciences Centre, homecare and Riverview. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. We love you Mom. THOMSON IN THE PARK Funeral Home and Cemetery www.thomsoninthepark.com 925-1120 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
