ANNE ZIMMERMAN On Monday, November 12, 2007, Anne Zimmerman passed away peacefully at the West Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 101 years. Remaining to forever cherish Anne's memory are her three daughters, Eileen (Harold) Burgess, Doreen (Harvey) Ander, and Joan (Richard) Selch; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a special sister Sarah (George) Wiebe of Surrey, B.C.; brothers-in-law, Sam Kuhl, Edward (Evelyn) Zimmerman; as well as sisters-in-law, Millie Peitsch, Ruth Sanduliak and Edna Robb. She was predeceased by her husband Otto in October l969. Anne was born at home in Green Bay, Manitoba, on April 2, 1906, to Ernestine and Ludwig Peitsch, the fourth eldest child of 15 children. She was employed at the University of Manitoba for several years prior to her marriage to Otto Zimmerman in 1933. During the war years, while Otto was overseas, she kept house for her younger brothers, Harry and Charlie on their homestead at St. Ouens, Manitoba. After the war, the family was reunited and settled in their new home at 252 Bowman Avenue, East Kildonan. Anne lived in her home for 53 years until the age of 91 years. Her remaining years were spent at West Park Manor Personal Care Home. Anne's funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the East Kildonan Baptist Church, 700 Watt Street, with Pastors Paul Clerc and Edgar Olney officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, 88 Hespeler Avenue. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to Anne's funeral service in the church. Thanks to the staff of West Park Manor Personal Care Home and to Anne's special caregivers, Gerry and Chris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne's memory to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Foundation, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1M5. Peacefully sleeping resting at last Her weary trials and troubles are past, In silence she suffered, in patience she bore Til God called her home to suffer no more.
