JACOB FRIESEN After a short courageous battle with cancer, Jacob passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 13, 2007 at the age of 75 years. Jake has now joined his loving wife, Blanche whom predeceased him on April 15, 1998. He has recently predeceased his brother Cornelius. Jake will also be sadly missed by his daughter Elaine Furukawa (Henry); son Gary; granddaughter Chelsea. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Ann and Helen; his brothers, John, Ed (Charlette), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jake was a dedicated employee of Martin Papers, Western Caissons and Parkville Caissons. Jake really enjoyed his many friends, being outside in the sunshine, playing numerous games of solitaire and in his last days playing crazy 8's with his family. The family expresses deep gratitude to Henry who lovingly cared for dad and April, his Palliative Home Care Nurse for all her care and compassion for Jake and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jake's life on Saturday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archiblad St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jake's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or you may sign your donor card.
