Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT JOHN HYDE 1928 - 2007 Peacefully on November 14, 2007, Robert Hyde passed away in his 80th year at the Victoria General Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by his brother Kenneth of Toronto, and nieces, Elizabeth Hyde (Victor) and Joanne Gooding (Brian), and their children, Andrew and David Spear, and Jillian and Charlie Gooding. Also cousins, Marilyn Puttee McGarry (Michael), Alan Puttee (Zonya), Chris Andreasen (Rusty), Mary Eleanor Puttee, Robert Puttee (Wilma), Joyce Farmer Merrick (Bill), Elaine Farmer Allden (Rich), and Carole Wooldridge (Michael). Robert was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gertrude (Puttee) Hyde, sister Marnie, sister-in-law Shelagh, and cousin Shirley Puttee Amos (Herb). Robert attended Queenston, Robert H. Smith and Kelvin schools, and was a graduate of the University of Manitoba. He devoted his career to teaching, initially in the Winnipeg public school system, and for more than 50 years, applied his musical talent and interests to teaching piano to students, young and older, in his home-based studio, as well as in performing in numerous choral and musical productions. His church and its fellowship were a vital part of his life, and through the years, he travelled extensively and enjoyed many summer vacations with friends at Star Lake and Minaki and with family at Stoney Lake, Ontario. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Church of the Way, 450 Lilac St., at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2007. Donations in his memory to the Whiteshell Keswick Fellowship building fund at Star Lake in care of the Church of the Way, the Missions Fund of Church of the Way, or a charity of choice would be gratefully appreciated.
