Born: Sep 03, 1934
Date of Passing: Nov 10, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRIS BABE FOULKES (nee RIDDLE) September 3, 1934 November 10, 2007 After a long and happy life, Iris Babe Foulkes passed away at the age of 73. Her life was filled with love and laughter, and she shared 50 years of marriage with her adoring husband, Don. Iris was always known for her fearless spirit, and even though she was a petite woman, her brothers never doubted who was in control. Iris and Don shared a love of the outdoors, and spent the vast majority of their summers at their cottage at Grand Beach, and camping with good friends. The early part of her career was spent in the insurance business, but Iris also had a passion for reading. It was that passion that led to her second career as a library technician, responsible for cataloging books in the St. James Assiniboine School Division. Iris was born and grew up in Fort Rouge, and after their marriage Don and Iris owned several different homes around Winnipeg, spending the last decade living in St. James. Iris was predeceased by her brother George Riddle, but is survived by her loving husband, Donald Foulkes, their daughter Karen A. Kennedy (Theo), and grandsons, Garth and Bryce. Iris is also survived by her brother Reginald Riddle (Olive), and many nieces and nephews, including John, Shelley and Brian Dixon, Jason and Chantal Riddle, and Vivian Fox, Gordon (Rose) and Jim (Christine) Foulkes. Iris was an incredibly strong lady, surviving open heart surgery at an early age forty, and more recently winning the battle over breast cancer. It was a good and full life, but was over too quickly. She is so sadly missed, but will live on in our hearts, making us smile at the lifetime of memories we all shared with her. A celebration of her life will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage (at Aubrey) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Lee Barringer celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully accepted. Arrangements entrusted to:
