GERALD MAXWELL DAY Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Thompson General Hospital, Mr. Gerald Day, aged 57 years. Beloved husband of Peggy Day of Thompson. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Mabel Day. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 34 years Peggy (nee Scott) of Thompson, his daughter Shanne of Winnipeg, and son Scott (Lilly) of Vancouver, three brothers, Bill, Hugh (Gina), and Harvey (Florence), three sisters, Marilyn Loder (Gerald), Shirley Sheppard (Garry) and Valerie Day-Hawkins. Also left to mourn are his in-laws, William and Madeline Scott, Joanne Scott, Charmaine Scott, Cheryl Riggs (Boyd), William Scott Jr. (Lee) and Stephen Scott (Melanie) as well as numerous relatives and friends. Gerry was born in Grand Falls, NFLD. During his working career he was employed in the past by Abitibi Price in Millertown, NFLD, Labrador Linerboard in Goose Bay, Labrador, Great Lakes Forest Products, Thunder Bay Division and currently with Manfor/Repap/Tolko in Thompson since 1987 as a woodlands supervisor. There is an expression that goes if you love your job you never have to work a day in your life - this is true when we think of Gerry - he was so at home working in the logging industry. Gerry always made time in his day for his family no matter how busy he was and we think of him as the number one DAD. Wake services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Millertown Community Church in Millertown, NFLD. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. also in the Millertown Community Church with Rev. Randy Lockyer officiating. Cremation has taken place and interment of remains will be held in the family plot in the Millertown Cemetery. Our family would like to thank the staff of CancerCare in Winnipeg and the Thompson General Hospital for the special care given to Gerry. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made in Gerry's memory to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, 620 Colborne St., Suite 301, London, ON N6B 9Z9, or to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermont Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9 Boardman / Northland Funeral Home in care of arrangements, phone 778-7982 Thompson.
