KEITH MCCOMB December 9, 1931- November 11, 2007 Keith passed away peacefully at his home in Winnipeg, on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the age of 75. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sharon Nelson (Gary), Linda Checkley (Sean), Greg McComb (Carolyn Spry) and Mike McComb and his ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Marie and Marjorie and predeceased by his mother, Edith, his father Frank and brother John. Many will remember Keith from the years he owned and operated his Dairy Queens for 35 years with great pride, first on Marion St. and then on St. Anne's Road, where his children, Linda, Mike and Greg, in their adolescent years, spent many countless hours, flippin' burgers with Dad and making sure the curl on those ice cream cones were just right! His daughter Linda worked very closely with Dad in the business until her decision to stay at home to raise her children. As his children grew and had children of their own, we always knew where we could find Dad/Grandpa...just sneak in the back door of the Dairy Queen, sit on the big deep freeze and while Dad was busy with his customers or making dilly bars for the next day, we would grab a few minutes here, and another minute there to catch up on the news of the family. He always had his T.V. in the back room, so the grandkids could watch cartoons. Keith was an avid golfer who liked to spend most of his free time on the golf course with his buddies or in the clubroom at the Niakwa Country Club. Come winter, when it was tough to find a good game here, he would take his game to Hawaii where he would slice and hook his winter away. His children would join him on many occasions and this became a home away from home for many years with many fond memories. Keith loved taking his children and later included spouses and grandchildren to his favourite restaurants, the Keg and Tony Roma's, for family time together and treating us to wonderful meals which he loved to do. Dad took pride in his talent as a photographer and also enjoyed sharing his passion for flowers with his daughters. Dad also loved listening to music and this passion has been passed down to his children. Always the sports fan, Keith loved to spend an evening watching a boxing match, or football game with family and friends, where he could hold court and share his thoughts on the game and life in general. Dad will be lovingly missed by his children and grandchildren. Rest peacefully Daddy. We love you. If you so wish, donations in Keith's memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
