Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANE RUSSELL (nee CARLISLE) May 6, 1918 - November 11, 2007 Mom passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the age of 89 years. Remaining to forever cherish Jane's memory are her daughter Judy Todoruk; son Gary Russell (Gaynor) of BC; grandsons, Don (Audrey) Korolyk, Ken (Carol) Korolyk, Craig (Kelly) Russell; granddaughter, Cinnamon Russell; great-grandchildren, Katie, Daniel, Lauren Korolyk, Kamryn, Chloe Russell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years of marriage, Norman Edward on May 2, 1981; brothers, Jack and James Carlisle; sister Nell Bond; as well as her parents Sarah and John Carlisle. Jane was born in her home on Lipton Street in Winnipeg. She was the youngest of four children. Later she formed a lifelong friendship with Dorothy Walker (Bowness) who lived across the street on Polson Avenue and later in life next door to her. Mom met our dad at a dance and later married him in Vancouver where he was stationed during the Second World War. After the war they returned to Winnipeg and raised their family. A loving and caring generous soul, Mom was devoted to her family. She worked at the Bay as a grocery cashier for 30 years until she retired in May of 1983. Jane was liked by all who knew her there and still had a special friendship with Molly Ruppel who worked there. Mom loved to converse with people and had a great sense of humor. She was out everyday and I'm sure she knew all of the bus drivers on the 77 route. In compliance with Jane's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private reception for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Buchel and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 2H8.
