Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN J. FEHR SR. On November 15, 2007, with great love and sadness, the Fehr family said goodbye to John Fehr - loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. John was married to his loving wife Mary (Peters) for 58 years. Dear father of Rosemarie (Peter Klassen), Lorraine (Victor Toews), Sandra (Dale Janzen), John (Susan Fehr), and Diane (Milford Palmer). Proud and loving grandfather of Leslie Toews (David Banbury), Mark Toews, Kristin Janzen, Monica Janzen, Jerod Fehr, Justine Fehr, and Tayler Fehr. Dear brother of Tina (the late David Peters), Helen (the late Jacob Friesen), Abe (the late Anne), Jake (Tina), the late Susan (Peter Friesen), and Alma (Isaac Friesen). John J. Fehr was born on April 16, 1926, in the village of Neuenberg, Manitoba to parents John and Katharina. John and Mary's home was always open to family and friends. Family was important to John and summer weekends found everyone at the cottage. At Falcon Lake, John enjoyed giving boat rides and never tired of getting everyone up on water skis whether they wanted to or not. John expressed his love for others by actions. He rarely sat still. John loved helping people and life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and going for coffee. With a twinkle in his eye he told stories and jokes. He had a unique way of making you laugh. John loved driving bus and spending time with people. His sense of adventure and business sense led him and his groups to many destinations around the world. He was generous and spared no effort if it meant greater comfort and enjoyment for everyone he met. John accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour. He was baptized in the McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church and worshipped there for many years with his family. With Mary's support, he built up John Fehr Insurance, Beaver Bus Lines, and Fehr-Way Tours. They and their children worked faithfully at building the family businesses. In 1996, John suffered severe heart failure and a stroke in Israel just as he and a tour group were preparing to fly home to Canada. Mary and family lovingly cared for him at home for two-and-a-half years. In 1999, he was admitted to Bethania Personal Care Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethania for their care and compassion. Viewing will be at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg on Sunday, November 18 at 4:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Ave. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. Donations in memory of John may be made to Winkler Bible Camp, Box 2340, Winkler, MB R6W 4C1. Klassen Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
