MANUEL DE SOUSA PEDRO After a lengthy hospital stay and sudden illness, Manuel Pedro passed away peacefully at the age of 84. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Crisalida Martins and grandson Daniel; son Joe Pedro (Karen); grandson Darien and granddaughter Kiele; daughter Maria Pedro and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Maria Eduarda Pedro. Manuel was born in 1923 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and moved to Canada in 1958 to start a better life for his family. He worked in the Sheet Metal trade until retirement. In his younger days he spent a lot of his time involved with the Portuguese Association and the Portuguese Brass Band. He was well known by his family and friends to be a handyman and was always willing to lend a hand. His favorite past time before going into the hospital was to cruise the neighborhood with his scooter or walker and take his grandchildren, Darien and Kiele for rides. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin N., Winnipeg with Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating.
