AUDREY LOUISE LINKLATER (TOLAND) Audrey peacefully passed away November 16, 2007 in Calgary. She was 95 years of age. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dennis (Tilly) of East St. Paul, MB, Barry (Wilma) of Twin Butte, AB and Lyall (Jean) of Sayward, BC; as well as her grandchildren, Marie Feakes, Miles, Dana Bertch (Dan), Scott (Karen), Craig (Jennifer), Clayton (Lindsey), James (Nancy) and Shannon (Matt). She is also fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Amanda Feakes, Michael (Dorothea) Feakes, Dakota, Danton and Darby Bertch, Paige Linklater, Jonathon and Tom, Dylan, Aleisha and Miranda Linklater and great-great-grandchild Layla Feakes. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Kenneth Toland and her sister Sylvia Condon. Audrey's husband, Orton predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her sister Helen Roach and brothers Gerald, Keith and Warren Toland. Audrey was born August 1, 1912 in Swift Current, SK and moved to various Saskatchewan centres as a child prior to arriving in Winnipeg (Fort Garry) in 1927. Following high school and teacher's college she taught at Earl Grey School in the Oak Hammock district, subsequently moving to the Cloverdale School Division in the R.M. of St. Andrews. She taught several terms while raising her family and then in Selkirk until her retirement in 1974/1975. She was an active member of the Cloverdale United Church and also initiated/led the Cloverdale 4H Sewing Club for a number of years. She and Orton moved to Kelowna, BC and then to Crossfield, AB in 1989/1990. There she undertook knitting/sewing stuffed toys and sweaters for youngsters at Calgary Children's Cottage until a few years ago. She was very supportive of her family and various charities and encouraged children to learn useful skills as well as an education. A service of remembrance will be held in approximately May 2008 (further notice will follow). At that time her ashes will be laid to rest at the Cloverdale United Church Cemetery beside Orton's. The family encourages those so inclined, in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to the Children's Hospital Foundation, or a charity of choice, in your area. If further information is required, contact Dennis Linklater at (204) 667-4047.
