Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELVA MADISON Elva Madison passed away at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home on November 18, 2007, at the age of 93 years. Elva was born in Burris, Ontario, to Niles and Florence Kennett on August 7, 1914. She began teaching less than a month after her 17th birthday and taught primary grades for 31 years, the last 20 in the Keewatin Public School. She pioneered the Keewatin Kindergarten and taught Keewatin's very first Kindergarten class (a private one) in Granny McCowan's dining room. Elva loved outdoor life and spent many happy days with her husband John, her family and relatives at the family island on Jackfish Lake. A very sensitive and creative person, Elva wrote stories and poetry and produced many beautiful paintings in both water colours and oils. Elva was predeceased by her brother Bob and her husband John. Elva is survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Janice, many relatives from Fort Frances and Thunder Bay; son Dale (Marlene), grandson Brad (Adena), great-grandson Ashton, grandson Barry; son Glen (Chris), grandson Todd (Laura) great- granddaughters Cypress and Emma, granddaughter Tasha; son Gerry (Darlene), grandson Niles and granddaughter Mackenzie. A memorial service will be held at the St. Andrews United Church in Keewatin on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Elva's memory to the Arthritis Society of Kenora, in care of Carolyn Johnson, 919 Park St., Kenora, ON P9N 1B8.
