THOMAS WILSHER SR. Peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2007 after a short illness Thomas Wilsher Sr. passed away at Selkirk General Hospital at the grand age of 96. Tom was born on November 7, 1911 at Walney Island, Barrow-on-Furness, England. At age 16, Dad was sponsored by the Rose family of Alameda, SK, who were friends of his mother. He left England alone aboard the S.S. Laurentic. He worked on farms around Saskatchewan until his sponsorship was over. At 18 he rode the rails during the depression looking for work. In 1935, Dad started working at the Manitoba Rolling Mills, retiring in 1976. On July 29, 1937 he married his beloved wife, Stella, who predeceased him on November 18, 1984. Now they are together again. Tom was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Norman and Arthur, sister Lily and grandson Trevor. He is survived by daughters, Cecelia Moldwon (Steve) and Pat Wilson (Willie), son Tom (Sharron); a sister Hilda Hygaard of Langley, BC; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As per Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside ceremony will take place on Friday, November 23, 2007. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
