ERIC JOHN SCHOTT January 28, 1957- November 20, 2007 It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Eric John Schott, age 50. He passed away peacefully at Stonewall Hospital on November 20, 2007 after a three year battle, to the date, with brain cancer. Eric is survived by his wife, Marlys; his four children, Daniel (21), Monica (19), Bonnie (17), and Stacey (13); his parents, Jack and Jona Schott in Warren; three brothers, Allen (Marlene) in Iowa, Dwayne (Dale) in Winkler, Ryan (Jackie) in Wisconsin; one sister, Lynda (Brent) Gross in Calgary; parents-in-law, Henry and Ursula Huebener in Lac du Bonnet; brother-in-law, Rene Huebener (Michelle) in Winnipegosis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born on January 28, 1957 to Jack and Jona Schott. He graduated from Warren Collegiate in 1975 and continued his education obtaining a Diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba in 1981. He then began to work in the manufacturing sector in Winnipeg where he met Marlys Huebener. In 1985, they married. After the birth of his son, he began farming full time and developed a successful cattle and grain operation. Eric's family enjoyed his humor and quick whit and were encouraged by his approach to any difficulty in life that arose. The most important thing to Eric was his children. He was so proud of their accomplishments academically, and their work ethic which he had a profound influence on. Eric was a true farmer, he loved watching sunsets, and checking on his crops and livestock. Eric learned from a young age that hard work and determination were essential for success in farming, his strength and knowledge in farming has been passed onto his son Daniel. Eric fought a valiant battle with brain cancer and while his body lost the fight, the disease never touched his spirit. His graceful acceptance of his battle with brain cancer was an inspiration to us all. He remained filled with hope, optimism, and good humor throughout his journey. The family would like to thank CancerCare for their guidance and support during his battle. The family would like to pass along special thanks for the professionalism, care, and compassion exhibited by Dr. Kanji and staff of the Stonewall Hospital through his seven month stay. Eric and family have many people to thank including Arlis, Darwin, Judy, Orval, Craig and Cindy, Isabelle Jones and family, and Carol and Jerome Schaeffer who were great company during his stay in the hospital.
