Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIAN CAMPBELL MCGONIGAL After a brief illness, Ian Campbell McGonigal passed away peacefully on November 18, 2007 at the Victoria Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by Carol, his wife of 49 years, his sons Gordon of Winnipeg and Scott of Ottawa, by his sister-in-law Joan and her husband Keith Wagland of Toronto, and by his many friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Jean McGonigal of San Diego, CA. In accordance with Ian's wishes, a private family prayer service has been held and cremation has taken place. Ian was a pitcher with the Elmwood Giants in his youth and followed major league baseball with a keen interest. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and served several years on UMSU council, ultimately as vice-president 1956-57. Self-employed in his company, Delta Precision Casting, he was an independent and creative thinker, inventing several products for the mining and lumber industries. Ian had an extensive knowledge of military history and delighted in visiting aviation museums and seeing naval vessels of the past and present. He was a lover of nature and took great pleasure in observing the wildlife wherever he was. Ian resided in Winnipeg for all of his 73 years, and felt there was no finer place to live. Flowers gratefully declined.
