Beloved wife of Asgeir Magnusson of Arborg, Manitoba. Alice and Asgeir found and married each other later in life after both losing spouses to cancer. Predeceased by her first husband David Eric Johnson (1982). Survived by her children Debbie Brown (Jeff) of Atlanta, Georgia, David Johnson (Judy) of Vidir, Diane McNeely-Ritcey (Kurt) of Toronto, Alan Johnson (Janie) of Riverton, and Carl Johnson of Riverton. Stepchildren Barry Magnusson (Corrine) of Vidir, Michael Magnusson (Kathy) of Ottawa, and Kathy Sigurgeirson (Russell) of Arborg. Brother Robert Houston of Gladstone and sister Eleanor Quants (John) of Comox, BC. Sadly predeceased by grandsons Robbie Johnson (2005) and Kenton Johnson (2004). Loving grandmother to Scott (Stacy), Jeffrey and Jamie Brown, Darrell Johnson, Allison and Andrew McNeely, Trent and Amy Johnson, Blaine and Janelle Magnusson, Jillian, Rebecca, and Megan Magnusson, Adrian and Brock Sigurgeirson. Great-grandmother to Sadie, Lucas and Hudson Brown. After a long and successful career at Sears in Winnipeg, Alice relocated back to her Interlake roots where she was born in Eriksdale, Manitoba. Being close to her three sons and families, all in the immediate area, was a source of pride and joy in her life. Alice enjoyed working at S.S. Johnsons in Arborg before retiring to the farm with Asgeir. Alice loved tending her garden, watching the birds come and go from the numerous feeders in the yard and had a great appreciation for nature and the wonderful outdoors. Alice enjoyed sports of all varieties. She could often be found at the local hockey rink cheering on her children, grandchildren and neighbour kids. A curling participant, fisher woman, and general lover of life she embraced it and enjoyed it to the fullest. Sadly in her later years her lung disease slowed her down and kept her from doing many of the things she truly loved. Although less mobile, she continued to be a life force. To celebrate Alice's life and passing there will be a memorial service on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home located at Ardal and 2nd Ave. in Arborg, MB. Followed by a lunch at the Heritage Hall in the Arborg Heritage Village. The Magnusson/Johnson families wish to thank the doctors and staff at the Arborg Hospital for their kindness and care. As an expression of sympathy and in keeping with her wishes, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association @www.lung.ca. After years of suffering with COPD your generosity would be a wonderful way to honour and remember Alice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
