Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS DOUGLAS SILVA With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Thomas Douglas Silva on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Grace Hospital in his 76th year. Thomas is predeceased by his parents Albert and Roslyn, sister Nelly, and brother-in-law Leonard. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn (Joseph), Praxide, Pauline, Celine (Paul), and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on December 29, 1929. After graduating from school he attended Colombo Technical College where he studied engineering. He then served in The Royal Ceylon Air Force while looking after his mother and sisters. After leaving the air force, Thomas worked as an instructor at the Ceylon-German Training School. Thomas then went on to England to study Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering. Upon obtaining his degree he migrated to Canada. He worked at various firms obtaining his Manitoba Professional Engineering status. Thomas was with Canada Post for numerous years before retiring and eventually moving to British Columbia where he spent his retirement years. The family would like to thank Dr. Bovell, Dr. Shell, nurses Tamar and Sue and the staff at the Grace Hospital. A special thank you to dear friends Cassidy and Peter Windeatt for their support through this difficult time. A private family funeral will be held.
