Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDRA (SADIE) MAKSIMOW It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Alexandra (Sadie) Maksimow on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in Winnipeg, at the age of 93 years. Sadie was born in Poland on August 15, 1914, but soon after her birth, her parents moved to a small town in the Ukraine. Sadie was predeceased by her mother when she was very young. After the death of her mother, Sadie and her brother, Paul Kudrick, immigrated to Canada with their father in the late 1920s. In 1935, Sadie married Konstanty (Gus) Maksimow. They farmed and raised their five children in the Benito-Swan River area of Manitoba. Sadie was predeceased by her husband in 1957. Sadie lived and farmed in Benito until moving to Winnipeg in 1960, however, she returned to Benito to spend the summer for many years after. Sadie was devoted to her family. She worked hard her whole life. Sadie loved to be outdoors and her hobby was working in her flower and vegetable garden. She was very independent and lived in her own home until 1997, when illness necessitated that she move to the home of her daughter, Lillian. In 2003, Sadie became a resident of Holy Family Home. Words cannot express our sorrow at this time but we know that she is now at peace. Sadie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children, Dena (widow of Don) McKie, Stockton, California; Nell (Bruno) Majewsky of Calgary; Nick (Joanne); Lillian (widow of Matthew) Lacroix and John, all of Winnipeg; ten grandchildren, Denise (Mark) Sanders; Darla (Scott) Oliver and Dawn (Rob) Thorpe; Jan (Bill) Lake; Laurie (Dean) Janzen and Kevin Majewsky; Roxanne (George) Sawatzky and Andy (Adrienne Binette) Lacroix; and Jason (Danielle Graham) Maksimow and Allison (Kris) Lamontagne; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Haley Sanders; Sydney, Jake and Max Oliver; Donovan Thorpe; Kayleigh and Shailynn Lake; Linkoln Janzen; Stephanie and Dale Lacroix; Phillip, Kristopher and Katelyn Sawatzky. Funeral service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard, Winnipeg on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to immediately follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Family Home for all their care and kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Sadie to a charity of your choice. To the Maksimow Family Our sincerest condolences in the passing of your Mother. She certainly appears to have had a good and fulfilling life. Our family often thinks of the Maksimow family and it has been a very long time since we were all part of the Benito Church.
