KENNETH JAMES WEBSTER MCKAUGHAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken McKaughan of Petersfield at the age of 74 after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer on Thursday November 22, 2007 with family by his side. Dad was born in Winnipeg, MB on August 7, 1933 to George and Hazel McKaughan. Dad leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Kathy (Denis) Nagam and Denise Campbell (Kevin Aime) and his most treasured grandchildren, Brennon and Samantha Campbell; sister Fran (Ed) Sutherland; sister-in-law Alma (Richard) Dalman; aunt Doris Carter, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Mary Assels. Dad was predeceased by his father George (1971), mother Hazel (1990), father-in-law George (1960), mother-in-law Jane (1982), and his wife and our mother Joyce in 1987. Dad and Mom were married June 18, 1955. They first lived in Winnipeg until moving home to Petersfield in 1958. Dad worked for Burns Packing Plant in the summers and travelled to work in the Bush Camps in Pine Falls, MB for the winters. In 1959 he began working for the R.M. of St. Andrews and retired in 1989 as Forman with 30 years of service. Dad worked hard all of his life and really enjoyed his farming and the times spent with family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those that needed and never asked for anything in return. His greatest joy after retirement was taking his grandchildren almost everyday to where ever the truck would go, and always ending up having ice cream with them. Dad liked to see the country side and it was not uncommon for him to drive all day long with no real destination. It didn't matter if he knew you or not, he was always willing to talk and share stories. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with Judy Limpright officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Dunara Churchyard cemetery, Petersfield, MB. Dad we will miss you always, but now there is no more pain and you are with Mom again. We know that both of you will always be with us. We love you! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
