KENNETH LAWRENCE COOPER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kenneth Lawrence Cooper at the St. Boniface Hospital on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the age of 82 years, with his family by his side. Dad will be sadly missed by his loved ones, wife Della (nee Treichel); daughter Lori (Gord); sons, Ken and Robert (Jill); sister Lorraine Stephens (George), brother George, and all who were touched by his humour, consideration and caring. He was predeceased by his father John, mother Mary and brothers, Jim and Jack. Ken was born in Winnipeg. He grew up in the Furby Street area and attended Mulvey School and Gordon Bell High. At the age of 16 he started a 44 year career with CNR, interrupted only once when he, along with his three brothers, volunteered to serve their country during the Second World War. Ken was a tank gunner/radio operator in the Governor General's Footguards from 1944 to 1946. He married the love of his life, Della, in 1951. Dad's home was his castle and he was always happiest with his family around him. In his earlier years, Dad was an avid curler and loved to watch hockey and football. He had a passion for music and reading and keeping up on current events. Dad was a handyman and loved to build and fix things. Always environmentally conscious, he was recycling and composting long before it was fashionable. Dad loved being outdoors. Whether at home or at the cottage at Gimli, Dad preferred to be outside and took great pride in his vegetable garden at the lake. We miss you Dad; you'll always be in our hearts. The family thanks the emergency room and Ward 5B staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent care and support. A memorial service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Mary's Rd. at Meadowood Dr., Winnipeg, on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., Reverend James Fritsche officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, in care of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Till we meet again. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241 Life stories may be shared with friends and family across the globe at www.mem.com
