HAWKINS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Hawkins, age 93, on November 25, 2007 at the Cottonwoods Care Centre in Kelowna, surrounded by his children. He was predeceased by his wife Helen Vivian and his son Murray. He is survived by his sons Russell of Chapel Hill, NC; Ken of Kelowna, BC; his daughters Dorothy Lewis of Massett, BC; Susan Hawkins of Seattle, WA and Nancy Hawkins of Toronto, ON; his grandchildren Murray and Jamie Hawkins and Kimberly Baker of Winnipeg, MB; Joey and Rusty Hawkins of Chapel Hill, NC; Karen Lobley and Dana Lewis of Prince George, BC and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Nelson of New Westminster, BC, Roy of Kelowna, George of Calgary, AB and Larry of Perth, Australia, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and his family always came first. Joe was born in Perry Sound, ON and lived in Winnipeg, MB for almost 60 years before moving to Kelowna in 2005. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society, 2019 Portage Ave. #N109, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 (www.alsmb.ca) Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialkelowna.com Arrangements entrusted to: First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC (250) 762-2299.
