Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR HARRY VANDER GRAAF 1925 - 2007 On November 25, 2007, our father peacefully passed away after a lengthy battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Art was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Luella, on October 8, 2007 and by his infant grandson Brett. He is survived by three children, son, William and daughters, Deborah Zebrun (Murray) and Sharon Donaldson (Geoffrey). He also leaves to mourn his passing, sisters, Anne Brydon (Gordon), Betty McMullan and Marjorie Atkinson (Dale); brothers Peter (Pat) and Frederick (Betsy); grandchildren, Carrie (Sean), Shawna (Rob), Andrea (Roy), Melissa (Joel), Reid and Danielle, and great- grandchildren, Tanner, Payton and Maja. Art enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1944 and served his country with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, Kent Regiment. In 1953 he joined the City of Winnipeg Fire Department and retired after 35 years of service in 1988 as a District Chief. He was a carpenter by trade, having worked in the Vancouver shipyards as a young man. His carpentry skills served him well over the many years of helping family and his many friends with projects. The family wishes to thank the ALS Society of Manitoba for their support in our father's final years, Concordia Place Personal Care Home, with special thanks to Dianna of the ALS Society and Christina and her staff at the Brummitt-Feasby ALS Home. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2007 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Rd. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Art's memory to the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House, 106 Kirby Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R2Y 0E8.
