LYDIA BROEK (nee GERKE) Peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. She was the youngest born to Rudolfe and Amelia with ten siblings: Albert, Rudolfe, Emma, Otto, Andreas, Erich, August, Alvina, Martha, Selma with only sister Alvina surviving in Germany. She is survived also by her loving sons Andre and Bernie (Diane) and her grandchildren, Curtis, Adam, Eric and Azure. She joins her loving husband Okko in heaven who predeceased her on October 27, 2003. Okko and Lydia were married on December 15, 1955 in Bremen, Germany where they met after the War. They came to Canada in 1956 and established a home in Whitemouth, Manitoba where they lived until her retirement of the hospital laundry in September 1992. They moved to Winnipeg where they resided near their son Bernie until their passing. Lydia was a living testimony to the Lord, a powerful prayer warrior and a woman who loved her family, making them the center of her life. She was loving and generous to a fault and had the heart of a lion. She'll be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to the 3N Staff of the Grace Hospital and to the friends and family for their loving prayers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from the Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba with Pastor Archie Dyck officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow the services. Interment in the Whitemouth Baptist Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service at the Church.
