WAYNE DOUGLAS DEMMAN 1946 - 2007 With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne with family at his side on Friday, November 23, 2007 in the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg. Wayne was predeceased by his father Bill, mother Nellie and brothers-in-law Bill Unger and Henry Martin. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Karen; son Sean; daughters Erin (Dean) Forster and Terri Demman; daughter-in-law Bridget; grandchildren Kyle, Meghan, Ryan, Grady, Nathan and Caleb; sisters Ruby Unger and Shirley Martin; brother Bill (Lorraine) Demman; brother-in-law John (Dawn) Hayes, nieces, nephews, great-niece, great-nephew and many friends. Wayne was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. In 1969 he graduated from Psychiatric Nursing and was employed at MDC. He and Karen Hayes were married on August 30, 1969. They made their home in Portage la Prairie where their three children were born. In 1974 Wayne joined the RCMP as a Special Constable at Winnipeg International Airport, followed by being trained as a regular member of the RCMP at Depot in Regina. He was stationed back in Portage la Prairie with the City Detachment before being transferred to Thompson Detachment for five years. From there he spent six months in St. Rose Du Lac, until he was accepted into the Identification Section of the RCMP and stationed in Corner Brook, Newfoundland from January of 1983 until December 1984. He was transferred back to Thompson, MB for three years. Wayne made a move to Headquarters D Division in Winnipeg. While working in Winnipeg he resided with his family in Winnipeg Beach area. Prior to his retirement in June of 1998 he completed a course in Applied Counseling. Retirement didn't suit him so he took employment at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre as a health care aide while studying to renew his Psychiatric Nursing license by correspondence. He remained employed at SMHC as a Psych Nurse until he became ill and was diagnosed with Goodpastures Syndrome in February of 2007. Wayne had many interests and passions. He enjoyed fastball, fishing, carpentry, picture framing, golfing and cooking, to name a few. While at Ste. Rose he obtained his private pilot's license. Wayne was known for his breeding and showing of his lovable Labrador Retrievers. He loved motorcycling, but sadly, we realize he'll never get to fulfill his dream of biking through the Rockies. Wayne had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a practical joke. Camping with Wayne was a true experience . Family and friends were very important to Wayne. He was always there for them. A time of visitation and viewing will take place on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel led by Wilma Shirriff. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Wayne's memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8 A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Wayne by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com

  • I would like to talk with someone related to Wayne Demman (died Nov. 23, 2007 and lived in Winnipeg Beach or Winnipeg). I am sad that I missed him but I would like to hear from his family or others. We lived next to him and played together.
