Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK POWER MOWAT It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Power Mowat after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 24, 2007, surrounded by his family. Dad was born in Gladstone on August 18, 1928, to Fred and Verta Mowat. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba, he returned to the family farm. He married Joy Olson on July 5, 1952, and together they raised a family and shared a wonderful life together. Power and Joy loved to travel finding adventure around the world, first together and then with their family. Another passion of Dad's was fishing with friends and family. For 55 years, we have gathered every summer at Cross Lake, Manitoba to fish, camp, and catch the elusive Big Jack . We spent many evenings around the campfire listening to Dad's stories and spending time with his grandchildren who meant so much to him. Dad leaves, to cherish his memory, his loving wife Joy, his children, Kevin and Jennifer, Vi and Bob, Jeff and Aileen, his precious grandchildren Jennifer (Mark), Lindsay, Derek and Justin, Stephen (Shawna) and Bryce, and the youngest grandson, Andrew, his beloved sister, Elizabeth Chapman, his treasured sisters-in-law, Mae MacGillvray, Hope (Dan) MacNeil, and Lil (Andy) Andrews, many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong Gladstone friends. Dad exemplified a life of love, family, Community, and Church. He was a man of his word, a true gentleman, and more than a father - a friend and confidante. He was the family strength, the family wisdom, a beacon of light so that we could always find our way home. He was everything that you could want in a husband, a father, a grandfather, a mentor, and a friend. A Celebration of Power's life will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone Christian Fellowship Church with Reverend Ian Olive officiating. Lunch will follow the service. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Gladstone United Church Memorial Fund. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone, in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
