MARY MELOSKY (nee ANTONIUK) 1926 - 2007 With sadness we lovingly announce the passing of our treasured Mama, Gramma and Great-Gramma on November 29, 2007 at the age of 81. Peacefully with her daughters at her side in Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, MB, Mary left this world to join her beloved Walter. Mary is survived by her children, Linda (Brian) Brown, Walter (Debbie), Audrey (Edward) Gatey and Patrick (Veronica); grandchildren, Victoria, Christopher, Sarah, Aaron, Michaela and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Keegan and Katie; sister Olga (John) Wityshyn and brothers, Mike, Peter and John. Mary was predeceased by her husband Walter; infant son Jarvis Walter of one month; her parents, Harry and Anastasia Antoniuk; brother Steve; and sisters, Lena, Julia and Kay. Mary was born in De Wet, MB, the second of nine children. Her early years were spent in Sewell, MB before the family moved to Senkiw, MB. Growing up in the Great Depression, Mary left school after Grade 8 to work as a housekeeper and help her parents raise her brothers and sisters. On October 7, 1950 Mary and Walter were married in Senkiw, MB. They made their home near Green Ridge, MB on the farm where Walter grew up. Together, Mary and Walter ran a mixed farm: bees, laying hens, pigs, beef cattle, grain, milking cows, whatever their hands could find to do. Mama worked hard alongside Dad. Whatever job she took on she did with no fear. Working on the farm, cooking, canning, knitting, sewing, washing clothes and tending the garden. Her green thumb produced wonderful vegetables and beautiful flowers. Mary is remembered for so many things: she loved babies, teddy bears, and roses; but we hold her smile and kindness dearest in our hearts. The family thanks the staffs at Le Repos in St. Pierre Jolys and Kin Place in Oakbank for the years of excellent care and all the friends and family who took time to visit with Mary. Prayers will be held Monday, December 3, 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, MB. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 4, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church in Rosa, MB with interment at the Parish Cemetery Pallbearers are Walter Melosky, Patrick Melosky, Edward Gatey, Christopher Gatey, Aaron Gatey and Brian Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Linda Brown and Audrey Gatey. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
