GUSTAVE (GUS) KAMKE It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing away of Gus Kamke, aged 83 years, of Libau, MB, on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Gus is survived by his loving wife Jean; children, Diane Bell, Debbie Shkolny and David; grandchildren, Jonathon and Adam; special friends, Andrew, Jack , Maxine, Anthony, Simon and Liam; brothers and sisters, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Fredrick and Olga Kamke. Dad lived his entire life on the farm and loved spending his time working the fields. In his earlier years, he worked in bush camps and later with Hydro putting up towers. His first love was baseball and he also enjoyed curling, playing cards and horseshoes. Then his second love came along in 1955 when he married Jean. After their marriage he worked at Cowin Steel in Winnipeg and still continued to work on the farm. He retired from Cowin Steel in 1981. He loved traveling with family both before and after retiring. A special thanks to all his family and friends for their kindness and support during his illness and to all the doctors and nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital and to the homecare aids and nurses for all their care. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk, with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. There will be viewing at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Libau.
