Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JOHN SIBBALD May 2, 1917 - December 1, 2007 The family sadly announces the passing of Edward John Sibbald at the Health Sciences Centre. Devoted Father and Grandfather, Edward was predeceased by his parents, Douglas Sibbald and Mary Ellen Cosgrove; his first wife Marie Vallillee in 1972 and his second wife Irene Reed in 1986. Left to remember him dearly are his daughters, Carol (Felice) Maione, of Durban, South Africa, and Jean-Anne Watkins of Winnipeg; his son Jack Sibbald (Shirley) of Vancouver; his grandchildren, Luke Watkins (Jeanette), Elise Watkins, Frank Maione (Zelda) and Eddie Maione; great-grandchildren, Alex and Chloe. Edward dedicated his life as a parent, grandparent and teacher to instilling a desire for knowledge and intellectual and spiritual growth. He was an avid historian and lover of classical music especially opera. Edward was born and raised in Edmonton. He studied in Ottawa before joining the Air Force in the Second World War. He became a teacher and later a Vice Principal in Montreal, and taught in Kentucky and Florida community colleges and later at the University of Durban in South Africa. He was a gentle and compassionate man. May he rest in peace. Funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 947 St. Mary's Road, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Health Sciences Centre who provided personal affectionate care during his passing. Thanks also to the staff at Cornish 2, Misercordia Hospital. Thank you.
