REGINA ABENOJA (nee DEQUIS) On Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, Regina Dequis Abenoja, dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years with her family by her side. Regina was born in the town of San Esteban, Illocos Sur, Philippines on September 2, 1916. She obtained her early schooling in her hometown and graduated from Baguio City College Foundation with a Bachelor of Science and Education degree, majoring in History. She retired from the Philippine Public School System where she taught for 40 years. Before coming to Canada to improve the quality of life, she was recognized for being an outstanding teacher based on her performance and dedication to her many years of teaching. Regina called Winnipeg, MB her second home. She was an active member of the OFSAM and was named Mother of the Year by the OFSAM and the St. Peter's Filipino Organization. She enjoyed dancing, singing, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. Regina leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Archie (Jun), her granddaughters, May and Joyce, great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Justin Pablico, son-in-law, Ben, and close family members, Ed and Cora, Melanie, Edgar (Sharon) and kids, along with many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends here in Winnipeg, California, Louisiana and Philippines. Regina was predeceased by her husband, Archie and her daughter, Mila. Lamay (viewing) will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007, and Sunday, December 9, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. Active Pallbearers will be messers: Mark Veruela, Bob Veruela, Randall Ponce, Donovan Ponce, James Francisco, Jonathan Francisco. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the emergency staff, the 4th 5th floors, and ICU at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and kindness, and to family and friends who were a part of Regina's life, for your endless support and love.
