PEGGY MARIE MASSEY (nee BENNET) After a courageous battle with cancer Peggy Massey, aged 67 years, beloved wife of the late Bert Massey passed away peacefully on December 5, 2007, with her family by her side. Peggy was born on July 24, 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Selkirk. She trained as a hairdresser and worked at Pruden's hair salon before marrying Bert on August 15, 1965. She worked several years at Selkirk Florist and later as a Homecare worker, a job she received immense enjoyment from. A loving and patient mother and wife, Peggy's great joy in life was her family. Her six grandchildren were a source of great pride and many smiles. Her move to the Lion's Centre in 2000 made the last seven years a busy time in her life with her many friends and fellow residents. She also enjoyed her many trips and misadventures with Kaye, Doreen and the Over 60 Club. Predeceased by her loving husband Bert in 1999; parents, Marie and Jock Bennet and brother Gordon; and is survived by daughter Leah (Gregg), son Greg (Cheryl); grand-children, Benjamin, Kyle and Graeme Dow and Bryanna, Naykia and Dakota Massey; sister Bonnie (Jake); sisters-in-law, Joyce Bennet, Doreen Massey, Kaye Dewar, Dorothy Massey; brother-in-law Frank (Fern); aunt Doris Couture; nephew Aaron, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, December 7 (today) at 1:00 p.m. at the Selkirk United Church 202 McLean Ave., Selkirk, MB with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
