ELIZABETH (ELSIE) ZARICHNEY (nee HARRISKO) December 24, 1925 - December 5, 2007 Peacefully, after a brief illness, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away at the Selkirk District General Hospital. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beverley Massey (Orville), Joanne, Lorrie Burziuk (Garry), Julie Michaud (Stanley), and Wendy; her grandchildren, Tracy Smith (Lawrie), Jeff Massey (Michelle), Jason Massey (Bonnie), Jacqueline Sanders, Andrea Sanders (Dave), Debbie Sanders and Megan Zarichney (Trevor); and her great-grand-children Ocean Sanders, Owen Smith, Jayden Massey, Hayden Hook and Courtnee and Cameron Massey. Also left to remember her are two sisters-in-law, Olga Harrisko and Jean Harrisko, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Andy in 1979; as well as her brothers, Max, Mike, Phil and Walter; sisters, Mary Harrisko and Julia Annis; brother-in-law Ernie Annis, and sister-in-law Verna Harrisko. Mom grew up in Winnipeg, married Dad in 1943 and made their home and raised their family in East Selkirk. She was always a hard worker and in her younger days, she grew cucumbers to sell at the Catelli pickling plant and at the north-end farmer's market. She also raised chickens, ducks, geese, cows and pigs in order to keep us fed and clothed. She also worked for varying time periods at the Middlechurch Home, Garry Theatre in Selkirk and the R.M. of St. Clements. Mom loved to play bingo and was never too tired to get to a game. She had many friends at bingo, and was happy to play whether she won or not. She also loved playing cards with friends and family and going to The Riverboat for coffee. She always had a joke or a funny story to tell, and she was always willing to help anyone who needed help of any kind. We want to thank the homecare nurses who attended to mom while she was at home, especially Susan and Carol for their special attention. We also thank all the staff on the surgical ward at the Selkirk District General Hospital for their care and understanding during this difficult time. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9 at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk. Funeral service will also be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10 with interment to follow at East Selkirk Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in mom's memory may be made to the Selkirk Palliative Care unit, or your charity of choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements,
