NANCY C. YEH Peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2007, our beloved sister, aunt and friend Nancy was called to her heavenly rest. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rose (Dick), nephews, Philip and Tim, niece Rose Marie, niece Jeanette (Kent) and grandnephew Corey, nephew Brian (Janet) and grandnephew Joel, and nephew Richard (Shirley). She was predeceased by her elder sister Lucy in 2000. Nancy's parents, Ko Chang Yeh, and Kwei Cheng, immigrated from China to Manila, Philippines, where she was born. After completing her Economics degree from Far Eastern University, she did Chinese and English translation for a Chinese newspaper until the Second World War. Then, she switched to private tutoring for several families, joining Lucy in supporting their family during the war. Nancy never married, but she treated her nephews and nieces as her own children, showering them with English grammar lessons, weekly outings and gifts. After the war, she worked as an Executive Secretary to the Director of Yutivo Investment Corporation until she immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. Sponsored by her sister Rose and her husband Dick, she joined her sisters' families (Lucy and Rose) in Winnipeg in 1975. With the love and support of Rose, Dick and the rest of the family, she embraced life in Winnipeg whole-heartedly. Nancy soon found employment as a legal secretary at various local law firms, eventually finding her niche as Executive Secretary to the Chairman of Perth's Corporation, loving her work until her retirement. She accepted Christ and was baptized early in life. In Winnipeg, she found her spiritual home at Bethesda Church where she found lifelong friends and joined the J.O.Y. Group. She also taught Mandarin Chinese at the Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies. Nancy enjoyed her active lifestyle, including Tai-Chi, line-dancing, aqua-cise, Seniors Day Clubs, tours and travels, even after she moved into West Park Manor. Nancy's enduring legacy will be her passion for learning, never losing her interest in current events, facts and figures, and her love of life itself. Her family thanks West Park Manor for the many years of care which made it Nancy's second home as well as the Grace Hospital caregivers, especially the ER and ICU doctors, nurses, chaplains and other staff who all made Nancy's short stay very comfortable and dignified. All family and friends are invited to the interment to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7 at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Then, a celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7 (today) at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue. Arrangements entrusted to LeClaire Brothers.
